Swedish defence firm Saab has secured a major contract worth SEK 10.1 billion (approximately $1.04 billion) to supply two GlobalEye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft to an undisclosed customer in the Middle East.
Deliveries for the two advanced surveillance aircraft are scheduled for 2030. Saab has explicitly declined to identify the purchasing nation, citing national security interests and the sensitive nature of defence procurement.
“Due to the nature of the industry, circumstances concerning the customer and national security interests, no further information regarding this order or the customer will be provided,” Saab stated following the announcement.
The agreement represents another significant export success for Saab’s flagship airborne early warning platform. The system is designed to provide long-range surveillance and real-time situational awareness across air, maritime, and land domains simultaneously.
Saab President and CEO Micael Johansson noted that the order highlights the increasing international interest in the platform. “This order underscores our commitment to providing customers with mission-proven, multi-domain AEW&C capability. The increasing international interest in GlobalEye reflects its effectiveness and reliability in modern air defence operations,” Johansson said.
